In spite of what THS claims, listings are not being checked thoroughly enough.
If such a small number of members are on the Forum and bad listings come up regularly as discussion points, just think of all the troublesome listings out there that we don’t read about on the Forum.
So, to stay on topic, which improvements would we like to see?
This: better quality control. Maybe channel some $$ from booking fees to help with this. QA is a basic and fundamental business practice.
Update. I just received an email from THS support. They advised that the passport image has been removed (I can confirm) and they have sent communication to the sitter about sharing sensitive information
PLEASE, add a way for petsitters to hide listings to which we do not want to apply. This, of course, would also work for homeowners to hide pet sitters in which they are not interested.
All of us spend of lot of time scrolling through listings that we will never apply to due to the number of animals, location, not a good fit, etc. Please help us streamline the process of choosing a good match with speed and efficiency by adding a HIDE button.
The name of the Petowners’s city should always be included in the listing when they live in great areas like big cities such as London. A lot of listings are located in London without any precise location.
And yet, they justified the introduction of booking fees to face an international growth of their platform, development costs to strengthen security and trust.
Wholeheartedly agree with this.
It is incredibly useful to know how many applicants there have been.
Especially if it has been more than 72 hrs since application has been submitted.
Those icons for dogs and cats are horrible. Very cartoonish and made for kindergarteners. I clicked on a sit thinking it was a cat and it was a dog. You have to look hard to tell the difference when I only browse quickly. Also it changed things in my reviews. I sat for two dogs and one cat on this one sit and it now shows one dog only. Why were the icons changed? Also I sat for another house in one state and when they moved to another it just shows I sat in their new state which I did not. As a host I would want to know the states sitters sit in to see if they are use to the weather at certain times of year and the natural disasters and what to do if encountered.
The single most important improvement would be to stop making changes. Those changes that are being made aren’t what are being asked for, they aren’t being properly tested, they don’t make things better and they can’t be properly rolled back.
When I search for a sit located in a specific city, I would like the results not to be cluttered with a large number of sits from surrounding cities. But I don’t want to pay an extra fee for that because I waste a lot of time scanning through useless pages the name of the area on each listing.
To be a bit more specific: you can sort by distance. You can’t filter by distance — which is what members have been requesting.
Unfortunately, for either of these to have much applicability, listings would need to be identified by an accurate location using postal codes or the like. Currently they appear to be assigned based on “the nearest town.”
(I’m beginning to think it’s THS’ way of ensuring rural listings get eyeballs.)
You can, but that doesn’t stop hosts from fudging their location to get more interest. It seems this would be a simple fix, as THS has the host’s address data including zip/postcode. This is what should be used to assign a location, not where the host wants us to think they are.
I grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. I will see listings that say Los Angeles but they are really in an undesirable part of the Valley. To get to the heart of LA you would drive an hour in bumper to bumper traffic.
