And, @Twitcher , as a birder you might be saddened by this, but her lack of sight does not prevent her from catching and dispatching pigeons in the garden! I’ve not witnessed it but the feathers are still there from last weekend (she ate it) but yesterday she shot out of the patio doors towards one on the lawn. It flew off but she was like lightning. She hears them and maybe smells them too. For the first 2 years of her life she was a street dog in Serbia.
It’s sad but it is nature, survival of the fittest. She had to take food where she could find it I guess. I hope she is living a good life now after all the hardships. Give her a cuddle from me x

@MaggieUU your post reminded me of Larry, one of 4 cats we looked after in July. Thisis his judgemental look. I think he disapproved of the fact that we had been to the pizza truck at the local pub. This is how he greeted us as we walked through the door. “And where have you been?”
A week in Tempe, Arizona (Phoenix) with three talking birds and an indoor/outdoor cat.
Sparky the cat wanders through the room a few times a day but has no interest in interacting with me. I was told that he is a picky eater – there are a dozen different kinds of cat food in the pantry but he hasn’t declined anything I’ve served him.
Stevie is a blue and yellow macaw.
Libby is a moluccan cockatoo – she picks at her feathers and is a ‘dancer’ – bouncing her head up and down while singing.
Jasper is a yellow-naped Amazon.
All three are talkers – Jasper is the most understandable but after a few days I can understand all of them. I let them out of their cages for a few hours most days and all have gone back inside by evening, although one day Stevie and Libby exchanged cages – swapped back the next day.
I make a fruit and vegetable cocktail for each of them every morning.
Temperature is getting up to 105 F each day. I’m mainly spending my time indoors – air conditioned or going to movies or coffee shops when the bird talk is too much.
Off to Albany, NY on Wed for a week with a cat.
My seventh bird sit but 5th with parrot-like birds. I really enjoy them.
@toml I would love to do a sit with parrots. We used to look after a friend’s African Grey, and then adopted an older parrot after his owner died. However parrot sits seem to be rare and we still haven’t managed it after 7 years of sitting.
