AI Written Applications from Potential Sitters

I’m more worried about a Terminator future.

Either way it’s not a good thing :person_shrugging:

Cheers for the info, but I’m old school so while my brain is still working I’ll keep writing my own applications and everything else.

HSG is talking about local file storage when she’s talking “local”. Few people are using AI this way, and we will be headed to Mad Max Land in no time at all, AI will render the human species obsolete within a decade, if even that long. I love technology, AI isn’t just technology it’s a human replacement, which is why it was created in the first place. Companies want greater profit and the only way to do that is to mechanise their entire operation. Every industry has done that over the years but what’s happening now is happening at light speed and there will be much carnage as a result, many people losing jobs, as is happening already, and few jobs to be had by those graduating uni, which is also already happening.

Hi @RaleighCat

I’m a sitter who doesn’t use AI to write my applications.

I’m kind of glad to hear that the quickest applications are obviously written and submitted with AI, and I hope that a discerning host will decline these and unpause the listing.

This will open up the opportunity for applications written by humans, who may be slightly slower to submit. I think I stand a better chance with my human written application.

I totally agree! I keep saying this.

The more likely reason for all the end of civilization talk all of a sudden is to scare us into happily accepting new regulations which will jeoperdize our privacy and freedoms more then they have so far.

Freedom is an illusion, look around you, it can be taken away at any minute.

I think we’re straying from the OP’s post, folks. Set up another thread re the wonders or not of AI if you feel inclined.

I see plenty of listings that are AI generated as well, complete with fake photos and copy straight from a real estate page.

Being concerned about AI and it’s impact on society shouldn’t be viewed as a conspiracy theory. In a capitalism-driven society the goal is to reap as much profit as possible, humans as labour is cost-intensive : wages, insurance, paid holiday time, etc. Don’t confuse advances in technology with destructive technology, even AI creators have expressed concern with how fast AI is moving and how dangerous that could potentially be, not to mention what we all already know about data centres.

This makes me think one could add to their listing, “No AI applications please.” I like to think, as a writer, that I can get a sense of when something’s been AI-ified, but it’s getting harder to tell. :frowning: If I was a host this would prompt me to add that to my listing.

Insert long rant about people not being able to use their brains anymore. I recently read a very interesting article where some researchers studied brain activity in people who were asked to write an essay with AI vs. people who had to do it themselves. Over several iterations, there was a significant difference in observed activity – relying on AI was actually killing off brain cells!

I felt like I lost a friend when a fellow hobby photographer who was talented, clever and creative went down the AI rabbithole and is now just churning out AI pictures, often derived from other people’s AI pictures. It helped shape my new policy of “I will not spend more time looking at/reading something than it took you to type a few prompts to ‘make’ it.” Which would come back to a sit application; if I was a host, if I thought it was an AI application, it’s not on, sorry not sorry.

Having heard this before, I sometimes make a point of using them just because.

I need to learn some more about the effects of data centres, which I keep hearing about but don’t know a lot of specifics. I saw the CNN interviews though – when even the creators of a thing are worried about the effects of the thing and think the thing should be better regulated, maybe we should pause for thought.

That’s kind of awesome in a hilarious way.

Already replaced by automatic cat litter boxes that clean themselves. I sat for two cats that have chips in them that opens their individual door to get to their bowl of dry cat food dispensed on its own. Prevents them from eating each other’s food. My job will be replaced when a robot can open a can of wet food.

I think I’ve come up with a new angle regarding AI narratives. I’m going to write the narrative and have AI do the pet sitting. See how that works.

It’s only a matter of time before there are AI robotic petsitters.

Then this site won’t even be needed.

Oh now don’t spend time worrying about that

The forum will be a bunch of robots saying, can you believe inferior humans were once the pet sitters.
