We use Turo quite a bit and we have a separate insurance policy and do not use their insurance. We do not own a car but do have a “transportation budget” Turo cars can be junk or a wonderful deal pay attention to reviews and realize it won’t be a new rental company experience.
Car-free transportation is a good alternative between UK cities, but some sits in more rural areas in the UK (and I’m sure elsewhere too) won’t be possible without a car. Most of my sits have been several miles walk from the nearest bus stop that had a very patchy service. Where a bike has been offered I’ve chosen not to use it on narrow winding country roads due to invisibility to drivers. On my most remote sit I think I was glad not to have been offered the use of the Porsche for the same reason - but the Land Rover could have been useful!
Even sits in urban areas can be a mile or more from public transportation.
