Interesting. I’ve never stayed there or had visitors stay there, since we live nearby. We go there for relaxation, food, entertainment, walking our dog.
When we used to visit when we were looking to buy a place the second time (this is the third time we’ve lived in the Portland area), we’d stay at a hotel in downtown Portland, because then we were central. Plus, food truck proximity. 
The first time, the company I ended up joining picked a hotel downtown, near the office, so I could interview.
