Thanks for this additional information - super helpful. I have some of those things but not all. I’ll be staying with them on the first day to go through everything and then they leave early the following morning. Their daughter lives very close by so that is reassuring should anything go wrong. Fingers crossed it doesn’t of course

This is when Booking with full free cancellation option comes in handy. Then you can have something in place that can easily be cancelled when you hear back from the HO. I have become quite adept in doing this when dates are unsure
