Considering a Sit in Australia – Am I Overthinking the Wildlife Worries?

In saltwater crocodile territory (most of north coastal Australia), they can be found in salt water or fresh water. So no swimming is generally the rule for dogs and humans. There are places that are safe to swim but the default assumption is to stay out of and away from any body of water. Even wading in a few inches of water to cool our feet was strongly discouraged.

That said, getting a sit in saltwater crocodile territory is not very likely; there aren’t a lot of people living in those areas. Australia is a vast place with fewer than 30 million people in total.

Another Aussie here, all excellent advice, get your youth work visa sorted (hope you are young enough) and come on down for a couple of years and explore. You will have a great time and more likely than not all the pets will survive.
Vegemite is best spread sparingly

Hope the photo worked, my stash in Wales

@Cathie I always cart a small jar of Veg with me when I travel and use it sparingly so it lasts. I saw it in a UK supermarket last year, possibly Waitrose or.Sainsburys.

Hi Crookie,
yes I bought a small jar with me, used it sparingly lasted ages. Got into Bristol and first Tesco I bought 2 jars. Used lavishly thinking I could get more but not available anywhere else we travelled in the UK so 1 jar sparingly again through 12 weeks in Europe. When I saw it at the local Tesco is Wales I just stocked up. We have been travelling now 11 months and I definitely need my Vegemite. Thank god the hubby doesn’t like it. Even sprang for a cheap toaster in Italy so I could have toast for breakfast

Australia is an amazing country and it would be a shame to miss it because of such fears. Take precautions, but sounds like you’re overthinking.

Sparingly as in thin, slightly transparent and not covering the surface :face_savoring_food:
