I now ask all pet owners what the situation is to cover vet costs in the unfortunate situation I have to take a beloved pet during a sit. I learnt from experience last year with a cat I was sitting started to have seizures. I took the cat to the vet but the vet requested 2000 euros to cover scans etc. I called the HO to discuss and a stand off developed as the vet didn’t want to accept payment over the phone, I didn’t travel with any payment method that would cover such…eventually the vet relented and accepted payment from the HO over the phone. Lesson learnt.
