I am a homeowner with sitters coming to my place (fairly new but happy with the results so far). I have two greyhounds who have bolted before so I have tractive devices on their collars. I give the sitters my login information in case the hound gets spooked (eg fireworks). The trackers are not “live” all the time. You only turn on “live tracking” when they have bolted. Or, I should say, I would only turn on live tracking if the sitter told me they had bolted (or if I’m home and they bolted). It never occurred to me that it would be used to monitor how much activity they get! The batteries of tractive devices would empty out very quickly if they were in “live” mode all the time. I don’t know about the other gadgets but I can’t imagine this ever being an issue with tractive devices, unless the sitter notices that they need to be recharged every day. Even without live tracking, they have to be recharged every five or six days.

Which sort of trackers are you talking about (soooo many sorts!)?
I agree that it is monitoring, but not the sitter.
My fitbit monitors my sleep and other things that i do not care about but thats the way it is.
Its simply a responsible pet owner being proactive in looking after their pet, nothing sinister at all.

I personally don’t have a problem with that as I always exercise dogs as much as requested and often more, and it has the bonus of being able to find the dog if it runs off.

Tractive is the product name, made specifically for dogs.
