Five Star Service Four Star Review

Funny thing

The photos of the dogs are as puppies!

Literally 2-3 years ago I would gauge

That’s includes the cats also…kitten pictures!

Yes Corky was aggressive on walks but he is a Chihuahua…I think. Gizmo is bigger but I handle large breeds so barking and pulling is typical when handling large breeds. I don’t expect. Farm Dogs to be on their best behavior.

( although ALL Tim and Henrietta’s 7 dogs were as perfect as you can imagine )

My current sit are also Farm Dogs and very vocal but there DOGS.

Thought this MAP view of obits may show a better depiction of how many photos and videos I took during my stay.

I even had to clear out data on WhatsApp because my storage was full…never heard of that

308 phots taken at the house as shown

That’s 10 a day

Thank you for asking this Ziggy. BTW, I’m in the US and maid is not a word I would use ever to refer to someone who cleans houses or apartments. Nor is it one I’d expect to hear. My 90something year old mother in law might say “the girl” and I’d cringe as in “When is the girl coming?”

Growing up we used the term: “cleaning lady” but I think this was more something my mother would threaten me with as in: “You need to clean up your room or I’m going to have to call the cleaning lady!”

And finally…I swear

The Welcome Home Spread of dinner, flowers, chocolates and a stuffed cow

( my new mascot… Little John. Had a cow named after me during my sit in Derby )

And on the left, a gift for the neighbors Simon, Caroline and their daughters Connie and Amber.

Plant, coloring books, jewelry kit, chocolates, dinner as well and of course Little John.

They painted going away cards for me!

WOOSAH

They dinged you one star for one category, but they gave you five stars overall and said they would gladly welcome you back. Their review won’t hurt you. I do get that you’re frustrated about it, but you should try to let it go and move on.

If anything, their review could hurt them as some sitters might consider them to be overly picky/critical and avoid applying for the sit, which is probably hard enough to fill with the number of animals they have.

Thank you for your kind response @Marion , I’m glad to hear what you have said and that the maid is not a normal term to use. I had a giggle at your mum-in-law saying "the girl ", a term I have myself heard much older people call women for various things. “Tell the girl to come here” when a young man introduced his new girlfriend for example  We can laugh at such things because it was normal in their time but definitely wouldn’t be used today. Oh, and I was the only cleaning lady in my household growing up  Bless her elderly heart your Mum-in-law :pink_heart:

I was curious as well so thank you for asking. I’m in UK and have always known the word ‘cleaner’ to be used.

Point taken although, as a host, no feedback is too long for me to read. I’m looking for someone to take care of my pets and my home and I also want to be the best possible host and match. It’s in my interest to read feedback on potential sitters and similarly reviews they’ve left hosts. It tells me much, much more than the stars. I cannot speak from a sitter’s perspective.

What about a Pair of underwear hanging from the blinds’ cord? Ha! i hung my just washed undies there and forgot them, the HO said she’d ship them Back to Me! Ha! Talk about not sweating the small Stuff:joy:

Yes, both of you are exactly correct! I cleaned houses through grad School, It was A perfect job for Me then! A Few Of the single men who’d hired me seemed overly interested in me…I quit them after photos were Snapped of Me And one of the guys answered the door in a Bath robe! The point being, they clearly saw me as “The maid” And therefore at their disposal! Ugh. My current housekeeper is an angel and I Couldn’t be more appreciative of her hard work if I tried! So yes, “Maid” Is Diminutive, Not accepted language in the USA either.

I’m in the US. (Well, NYC if that counts. ) I wouldn’t use “housekeeper” either as to me that impies a full time position with someone watching the deliveries and maybe Downton Abbey and Mrs Hughs mostly bossing the other “servants.”

I think nowadays most people look at “cleaners” with simiar respect to plumbers and electricians – peope who come to the home to do a service.

At any rate, my parents usually had a cleaner, in part because my mother worked outside of the home an in part because my father an optometrist had his “shop” at home. One day my father went out to the barber and came back to find the dog in a state and the cleaner of several years, dead on the floor of a stroke. My father did his own cleaning after that. Many years later when he was ill and my mother was fragile, I found a cleaner for them and assured them she was healthy and medically cleared for the job.

This is one reason why as a sitter I send daily proof of life texts whether I’m asked to or not and I always ask sitters to send me daily texts. Any sitter that tells me they don’t want to feel I’m “checking up on them” is not going to sit for me. I’m not checking up on them, I just don’t want to come home to a very bad situation.

@Jenny Since the sitters this post was about have come and gone, can we please close this thread? Thank you!

Happened to me once. 5 stars overall and in every category except for cleanliness, 4 stars. No explanation. The review text was outstanding. I don’t get the point of docking a star without referring to the reason in the body of the text, it doesn’t accomplish anything.

VALIDATION!

The Post Sit Whatsapp tossed with the HO has begun.

Starting with HO posted photos of the exterior of the home…what a joke!

THS HO photos of home are from the

Real Estate Company listing almost 10 years ago! Lush green manicured English Garden is what attracted me to the sit. Not to mention the horses in the yard…NOT THEIR HORSES but from the farm BEHIND them that are NO LONGER there.

And the housekeeper that didn’t show, the poor WiFi and NO freezer space…literally NONE!

( I chuckled when I read a sitter mention to an HO “must have freezer shelf”. I thought "WOW, that’s a stretch…but now I know why)

All those problems and yet this sitter gave an excellent 5 star review. This is what is wrong with this site which is supposed to be based on trusted reviews.

100% Agreed!

I always send updates daily

Actually shocked when HO don’t reply or simply  the photo of their beloved animals.

You think I took over 300 photos/videos during my 30 day sit to clog my data and take home as a keepsake???

I’m showing you living proof that your animals are FED WALKED LOVED and PROOF I am doing my job as agreed upon via Welcome Guide or conversation.

My current sit doesn’t even have a Welcome Guide for 4 Horses 2 Great Danes and 1 Weimeraner!! Literally a piece of paper hand written in front of me!

Also, the HO asked me to move out of the house to the guest house because the daughter don’t want to leave her room…a 26 year old grown woman. She seems abit bothered I am in the home cooking. I am NOT in the living area or any part of the home other than the kitchen

( my OCD kicked in and I cleaned the refrigerator, as I always do, organized the Tupperware drawer and bought new plastic storage, couldn’t find matching tops for half the containers, cleaned the spice drawer and utensil drawer )

Someone had mentioned getting paid for side gigs while sitting, I believe I may offer CLEANING and ORGANIZING as an option

Well said.

Lesson learned

It’s against the policy of THS for a third party to be in the home during the sit.

This sounds like a nightmare sit! You say you “learned your lesson” about not leaving a 5 star review but this begs the question.

Why DID you leave an excellent review for such a poor sit with the hosts being so unreasonable?

I learned my lesson from my last sit

That I left last week

This sit started three days after my last sit

Little time to “learn my lesson”

Also, new to the site of 6 months

Have some AMAZING sits and met some AMAZING people…shout out to Tim and Henrietta been back four times non sit related.
