Absolutely not! Are they offering to pay your fuel/travel expenses? This is a giant red flag to me…
I had a sit in Aug and was in the area in May, but 30 miles away and busy. The HO in Aug wanted to meet up but I just didn’t have the time, or really didn’t want to make that effort with the mileage. It worked out, the Aug sit went fine, and I got a rave reviews. I think it isn’t necessary.
Nope. Just suggested I pop over for a quick visit! Quick for them maybe if all they have to do is answer the door.
To me this is just a quick “nope.” Maybe the host is new and really doesn’t understand how it works. Maybe they’ve always had meet and greets from Rover etc so they really don’t know. I’d try explaining it to them, offering to meet for a video, but letting them know you totally understand if they want to decline you and move on.
I just did a 60 minute RT to meet a dog and get instructions. I am on a sit nearby. She gave me $25 for gas money. I thought that was rather nice.
