There’s a way around this: you have a message ready saying you are interested in the sit but are not able to write a full application atm, you don’t want to interfere with other applicants so you decline and get back ASAP. It may not work all the time, especially if the 5 applications limit is reached when you get the message through, but at least it won’t be so annoying for the HO. If you get back very quickly, you may still be considered.
Thanks for replying! I honestly think what is annoying for a pet owner is a billion people trying to fill 5 application slots as fast as possible when they don’t even know if they can do the sit at all. What’s annoying for sitters is having to apply for a favorite sit like a speed lottery at all hours of the day and night.
It’s indeed annoying for both parties. I just suggested a way to slightly increase sitter’s chances. As for the hosts, I think this is the best advice
Some sitters will only read the headline.
That is why I send private invites to those who have favored me and I have favored back. I do this FIRST and then when none of them work out, I open it up to the general sitters. THAT’s when the pain begins.
Oh please! No more filters! I can see the whole process becoming just a series of box-ticks.. Let’s leave room for intelligence and individuality.
+1.
Please!
Intelligence seems to be in short supply sometimes. Common sense isn’t as common as you’d think ![]()
