Don’t worry
I am used to that because of my short haircut.
I would say that in the US a 9-minute drive is nothing. I also think that many Europeans do not anticipate the traffic issues in the US. Here i Texas they seem to have adopted the “loop” concept, which has traffic going in a circle around cities like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio; Six to Eight lanes deep; speed 75 mi/hr. Although I have lived in Texas for nearly 20 years I am still not used to it. I prefer the scenic routes now that I am out of the rat race.
Thanks to all for your thougthts. If I ever get an international sit, I have come to the conclusion to ask the HO. There are taxis or Uber everywhere as a last resort.
We do have Uber in Germany, but they are not allowed to charge less than normal taxis.
I know Germany is a modern country. My intention was to say, as a budget traveller That would be my least desirable option. My apologies for any misunderstanding.
Oh, no, I didn’t misunderstand. I know what is meant by a last resort.
We actually didn’t have Uber for a very long time in Germany, because their system charges less than the regular taxi fees, which the drivers need to make a living.
In most countries Uber, Lyft or whatever they are called, are cheaper than taxis, but not in Germany. I just wanted to point out that this is different here and that the last resort might be even more expensive than elsewhere
When I was in NYC recently, the taxi charged less than Lyft.
now that’s something new! But this also would not be possible in Germany.
