Me too. Cancelled auto renew…end Jan 6
No upon renewal. Mine renews in Jan so cancelled auto renew.
Yes I know it’s on renewal, I was replying to someone who had just renewed yesterday, so it doesn’t hit them until another years time, 1 year from yesterday is their renewal date, this is what they wrote:-
I’m really lucky my isn’t due for renewal until 2030, because I’ve gained a lot of 2 months free from referrals. So my renewal date is 2030.
my membership was renewed last month….so does this mean I am impacted? Or will be from next November? The email is very badly worded….
Hi @toreishi
This hasn’t been marked as a solution by THS - I think you’re looking at a reply where the member’s username is “solution”. We wouldn’t choose a best answer or solution for a discussion thread like this. ![]()

Exactly . Many of us have established relationships with sitters / host. Normally then confirmed through THS . Doubt folks will continue that.
The contact us for help number is still listed and still says the number is not working. Yeah great service THS
“Alongside your annual membership fee, each confirmed sit will now include a £9 booking fee. This is paid for by both the owner and sitter, and helps to fund the services behind each sit and encourage commitment from both sides.”
Fund WHAT services exactly?! I have never used any of the features TH offers to supposedly “help” but from I have heard from other sitters, those services are beyond useless and unhelpful anyway
but it is the sitters that pay. And if the owners don’t have premium they will pay. I see that it means about 10 sits per year. and I already have 4 sits though March. Does it mean I pay retroactively?
I went to Frankie the chatbot and asked it to leave a message for staff (or speak with staff).
I then left an official complaint about the booking fee.
Please do the same.
Complaining here doesn’t help, in recent years THS have shown to simply not care when members voice their disappointment about an issue in large numbers on the Community Forum.
Maybe it DOES help if many members file their complaints about the booking fee directly via the chat function.
Thanks, Jenny. I stand corrected !
Come on, guys. Seriously? Every few months you come up with another novel idea for getting more money from us by pushing us all to a Premium account with a bunch of ‘perks’ we don’t need and never asked for. Where does it end? And how come every other house sit site manages to meet our needs at a fraction of the cost?
And have you considered the possibility that you are now creating a tier system for desirable house sits? Who is going to shell out $12 for a weekend house sit when they could get a month-long sit for the same booking fee?
Reconsider this. You are overplaying your hand and it will cost you in the long run.
yes pet owners have no issues to find pet sitters via facebook groups. but as a pet sitter searching for a certain time and country is not easy on facebook. so I guess more pet owners will leave which gives me less opportunities to pet sit. You should do something to attract pet sitters/owners to make more money and not to hunt them away.
@Denice (who renewed the day before the booking fee announcement)
You may be eligible for refund under section 10 of the terms and conditions which is the ‘cooling off period’ but you need to jump on this quickly.
I’m very disappointed in the new booking fee. I have enthusiastically recommended TH to many friends who have joined over the years but will no longer do so. The membership fee is already high for what it provides me and I have no need of any services other than having access to the listings. I don’t use the insurance, vet advice, help and support or anything else and therefore am not sure why I am being required to pay an additional fee for TH to “deliver a smooth, consistent experience for every sit” when I don’t need it. I am considering canceling my membership out of principle. I don’t like to be charged extra without a choice and for no added benefit.
So disappointing. As sitters, we already know that we’re at the disadvantage financially in THS operations. Adding the fee to sitters is wrong, because homeowners may use the service once or twice a year. I have had 30 sits last year… do the math. If THS wanted to raise capital, then increasing membership fees, going forward, would have been the humane way. Again.. sitters do NOT use this once or twice a year. Many of us have sits throughout the year, and this will add up. Folks.. that is over $300 a year for active sitters! Plus our membership fees. Homeowners will be paying maybe $30 a year.
THS is destroying their own product by being so clueless about their own sitters. Do the math.
Is there a way to turn off auto-renew without accepting the new terms? When I go on the main website (not forum), it pops up before I can do anything else.
My post is “pending” but as sitters, we need to do the math. I have done almost 30 sits in the past year. That would be $360 on top of my membership fee. The homeowners use THS a few times a year. This is being thrown onto the backs of the sitters. Be sure to calculate how many sits you do in a year to get the real cost.
Stick it on the Reddit THS page.
Upgrade to Premium membership. The cost will be less than the booking fees and you get several perks.
