Hi all! My name is Danielle and I’m a pet sitter and a new dog mom to a gorgeous 8 year old black lab mix named Rafa (tennis fans will enjoy this). My last dog was Hunter (another black lab) who was the absolute best and passed in 2012.
I’ve been doing THS sits since 2019 and rave about it all the time. I live in the San Francisco Bay area and love doing sits in Lake Tahoe and Guerneville, CA - both places I’ve gotten to know well thanks to THS sits.
I even flew my niece out here in the Fall to watch a gorgeous golden retriever with me and see Sonoma County and do some wine tasting. Was perfect! It’s so much fun when you can do a few sits for the same people and build a relationship.
I don’t know what the future holds for Rafa coming with me on sits - hopefully I’ll find some where he can easily come along. I thought it would be nice to meet some other sitters and hear about other people’s adventures.
I’ve done a lot of dog sitting for friends and via THS and think the key here is treating others’ pets as lovingly as you would your own, leaving the home clean, and getting a quick feel for the pet parents communication preferences. Some want constant updates, some are happy to barely get one text per day. This is such a great community, and I love how popular it’s become.
Hi! I´m Irene and I am from Spain, recently graduated. I´m a pet parent of two girly cats called Ruby and Susy. I want to start to sit because I love traveling but when I travel I miss my kitties so this is the perfect option to be surronded by lovely pets meanwhile traveling!
My hobbies are dancing, reading and talking jaja, I adore talking and socializating with other people, especially when they have other cultures or live in another country! This is my little presentation, I hope to have lot of more things to say here, thank you!
First time here! Pretty excited about this. I am a avid dog lover since I was a little kid. I love nature and got an opportunity to work in Safari camps for the last 8yrs. I love the wild and getting to enjoy the natural breeze and the various species of animals in the wilderness of the wild Masai Mara and Amboseli.
I great pet sitter with passion for animals.
Looking forward to petting soon
Hello Everyone. I am a retired veterinarian technician. I do a lot of pet sitting locally through vet offices, Rover, neighborhood sites and referrals. I realized recently my apartment that I pay a lot for has just become a storage unit for my furniture. Starting in May I am going to become a digital nomad. Excited and a little nervous. Also plan to spend a couple months this fall in Europe using THS, Then back to the US as I have bookings through the end of the year. My concerns are clothing and food. Wish me luck.
Welcome Everyone!
Amazing, I’ve only been once so I’d love to hear your friends (and your) recommendations of places to visit other than the obvious. I always share this Gelato shop with friends, it was so good.

Probably the Google translation isn’t quite good enough.
“Hi everyone!!

Thank you so much in advance, and I hope you all have a lovely evening!”
Great idea Jenny!
I’m currently on my 59th sit. I’m almost full time. As of today I’m almost fully booked until mid October.
I’m a retired chef, pastry artist, restauranteur and banker.
I started sitting a few weeks after I retired in 2019. I thought I’d give it a try and if I didn’t like it , I never had to do it again. By the end of the first sit I was hooked! Now I sit 40+ weeks a year. As a bonus, I’ve found a way to spend the winter in a warmer climate without the cost of renting.
THS is one of the best choices I’ve ever made!
Hey there Garfield, nice to meet you! ![]()
You post brought back so many happy memories I have from the summer of 2016! Or as I like to call it “The Pokemon Summer”. I remember I hadn’t played a game in ages, then Pokemon Go was released and everybody was on their phones, trying to catch a Squirtle or a Charmander.
I played a lot that year, and I stopped a bit later, so I never got pro status. What level are you now? I played a bit of The Witcher: Monster Slayer (same concept, just a bit darker) circa 2021, but it wasn’t as good.
Maybe there are other gamers in the forum?
Hello @Lily_V !
I’m at level 42. As the requirements approx. «doubles» for each level it is getting slower in levelling up.
But it still gets me out walking, and extending my walks just a little bit more. ![]()
That’s very impressive! 42! I might be like level 5 or lower
Got to love those hunts for rare pokemons, I do remember reaching 20,000 steps one day in London. I wasn’t even tired ![]()
Hi all, my name is TJ. I’m a long-term traveler, having left Canada last April and spending my time since in Southeast Asia, Australia, and now India.
My travels have largely involved dog-related activities. I have volunteered at Shelter for Lombok Dogs, Soi Dog, and Lanta Animal Welfare. I also did a 10-week sit in rural Australia.
My dog background was as a behaviour foster for about ten years. Because I lived alone and didn’t have my own pets, I could take complex cases that couldn’t go to most foster homes.
Last fall, I decided to take some dog behaviour courses. I’ve completed Kim Brophey’s L.E.G.S. course, Mike Shikashio’s Aggressive Dog Master Class, and am currently attending a course called Pooch Peacekeeping, that focuses on identifying points of conflict in human and dog relationships and how to navigate them. I came to India as part of the group that came from USA and Canada on a street dog field study–this was primary publicized to the L.E.G.S. community. While here, I found out about a 2-week veterinary assistant course that would teach me skills to assist with in-field sterilization campaigns.
I will be visiting home in May and will then be off to the UK for a few months of sitting. I have my first two sits booked through much of June and July.
And now I don’t remember what the actual questions were, so I guess I’ll leave it at that!
Hi @JohnSmiley , that sounds like an impressive and interesting journey you’re on! Thanks for the introduction! ![]()

Hi all!
It’s my first time on the forum as a pet owner. My husband Tim and I adopted Monty the Moggie just after Christmas 2023. We have also pet sitted for several years, which has allowed us to explore new places and meet some wonderful people.
I’ve just finished my first two listings and any constructive feedback is welcome. We’re going away in about 7 weeks, which is cutting it a bit fine for my taste. ![]()
Something fun about me: I’m left handed but play the guitar and bass right handed - it confuses my band mates!
My wife and I started at THS just about a week and a half ago because we are going to be traveling more since I became a Travel Agent. The cost of petsitting is pretty high, and this should ease the financial burden a lot!! We joined to be Sitters as well, so, we might be taking care of your pets someday! ![]()
Hobbies: We like to bowl, ride bikes, go to the movie theater, go on walks and short hikes, visit good restaurants, and stuff like that.
Fun and Unique: We grew up together in Oregon, were not in contact for over 30 years, reconnected in 2021 in Michigan then got married in 2023 in Sunriver, Oregon! We now live in Michigan with our 3 Cats and 2 Dogs!
We can’t wait to get out there and travel, and are excited to meet pets and people!
@Karen_E That must’ve been awesome and exciting!
I’ve been been up Half Dome twice in my life and need to make it more! Yosemite National Park is my favorite place on the Earth, if I were not married, I’d probably make it my home.
I am originally from Ireland and have now lived almost half my life in Texas Having dual US and EU citizenship allows me travel and housesit without the immigration concerns that worry others. I have done sits in the US, Dublin, London and Switzerland.
I have been a sitter and homeowner on THS for about 3 years. I often travel alone and I love having the company of pets when not at home. I’m writing this while heading to the airport to fly to NYC for a sit😻
My hobbies are running (10 marathons in the past), cycling, hiking, reading. I do a lot of volunteering, as an usher in local arts venues and with pet rescue. I am a serial cat foster mom (130 fosters so far!) with one cat of my own.
As a fun, part-time, retirement job, I do pet-sitting when I’m not traveling. However, this is not a job you can do remotely, so perhaps I should have chosen something else🤦♀️
Hi Jenny, great topic. I am Drew and have recently rejoined THS having had a membership a few years ago! My how things change! For the better I may add. My wife (Lisa) and I have travelled a fair bit in Europe and Asia, we advertise for house sitters only as our latest rescue boy goes everywhere with us. That having been said we own an old property which needs living in or it just degrades with dust, cobwebs and mould, no great problem but we realised that others could benefit from enjoying the area of France we live in. No! We are not looking for cleaners, far from it we just want people to enjoy what we have as a lifestyle as well. The other reason is we have to regularly return to UK due to sickness and health problems with other family members. One of which is end of life, so last minute returns and requests on THS will become more frequent no doubt.
Keep doing what you all do, we’ll endeavour to keep doing what we do and create a great environment for you to be in.
Drew
