Messaging owners without applying

Yes it was through the application, but before, we could send a message through the application even if we were on a sit at that time. So for example, let’s say you were currently on a 4 month sit, you wouldn’t be able to make contact with anyone for the entire time period because you’re already on a sit, so THS blocks you from applying. Before this policy change, we could at least make contact. I would put in an application to make contact with a member and then immediately withdraw it and explain why so as not to take up space in the 5 application limit. This affects a lot of full time sitters like myself who do mostly long term sits. I understand why the policy change was made, to prevent sitters from cancelling sits in favor of another sit, but I think this was a reactive approach to the issue that has cut off our communication with members.

@savoryandrose yes it has cut that communication. I was thinking the email address could offer communication. It could be one that you don’t use for anything personal or important. Just an idea since I don’t see THS changing things back and there is not way to reach a HO when they have flexible dates. But I don’t know if it’s allowed.

I think an email address would be a great work around and I cannot see why it wouldn’t be allowed. It is more likely a host might choose not to share personal details on a public site.
