That’s because the new medications just started kicking in.

OK they may have the people but I am not seeing any improvement in the software/platform.
I think marketing will be a big part of their budget.
We are all entitled to our opinion.
Have you tried speaking to a human lately?
Lately might be a challenge. 21 customer service people is not nearly enough to put out the dumpster fire they lit.
For what it’s worth, THS email support was fast and responsive in getting me 2 lounge passes for next week’s trip.
Oh F-F-S that’s so easy to do with no responsibility or energy whatsoever. Always gotten mine within the hour. Now try for a real issue and see how you go
No need to think about it. You can go read their financial statement from EOY 2024. Google “Companies House” to find the portal to their records.
Thanks but better things to do. Off for a walk and a Xmas get together with our local walking group.
Merry Christmas
I opted not to renew and i didn’t plan to sit for a couple of months so i guess I’ve already left.
I’ve looked at a few other sitting sites and found 2-3 worth joining, when i want to travel-sit-for-lodging again.
I’m one who only sits a few times a year, if the suit signs with my travel plans. The new fees won’t affect me much. But once a company loses my trust, once they show their true colors, they never stop at just the first enshittifying thing, they pile on. And eventually they die.
I’m just getting out before that happens. But i quit Amazon prime this year and Hulu when they tried to fire Kimmel, etc. I just don’t support companies i don’t like.
I used to like ths. Not anymore.
Hmmm. I started the thread. I awoke to a bunch of posts but it seems that folks aren’t ready for this topic. Can the moderators please close it and let it die a natural death. Cheers
I guess for those even using the membership now until it expires, there are perhaps a few things worth considering:
Review the T&Cs against general consumer laws in your place of residence, particularly regarding pay outs for strangers’ vet bills, home repairs, and now also reimbursements to THS themselves. The overall risk of having your pockets skinned are substantial. And, quite frankly, enormous compared to the fee.
If travelling internationally, exercise extra caution with labour and immigration laws. You are now officially “booked”; someone has paid a sum of money in exchange for your agreement.
Due to marketing, member profiles and reviews are publicly accessible whether you like it or not. Paradoxically, this may help smooth your transition now to other platforms.
Make sure you have a legally valid, bulletproof document signed before confirming any housesitting arrangement through THS. It should protect you from every risk THS embeds and exposes you to, in its T&Cs.
Beyond this, there’s little else I can think of to make it less painful. The only steps that come to mind, since THS’s idea of “crisis management” appears to be entirely imaginary.
The risk that international travelers face when entering countries that frown upon or openly forbid and enforce against pet sitting is not changed by the new booking fee.
Having a legally valid, bulletproof document signed by both the host and sitter is not reasonable and would probably be refused by the other party.
For all practical purposes no sitter is going to pay thousands of dollars in vet bills or home repairs, and the risk for not doing so of being sued or booted from the THS platform is close to nonexistent.
What would you suggest goes into this document?
Hmmm This doesn’t help with your claim to be just a tourist. Another reason for both host and sitter to upgrade to premium., I suppose.
I have perhaps been a bit disrespectful at times. My apologies to our Community, & the moderators who bear the brunt.
I still think what I think, but I could have been more eloquent.
There is no need for “new Black Friday”. Buying the upgrade on BF would have had no effect: the fees anyway start after renewal. I get it that it is another fishy thing THS did, but it had no effect.
I can relate. ![]()
They are just brainstorming ideas. Do you have some?
I say anything I think. It helps me clear out my head.
Ouch. This hadn’t occurred to me, but you may be right. Since immigration officers have broad discretion to determine what’s “work” & what isn’t, I see this as problematic…particularly if someone mentions the term “Trusted Housesitters.”
Although conversely, I guess sitters could now honestly say they paid for lodging…so roll the dice and we’ll see. ![]()
