As a HO, I have had several sitters apply who were very interested initially, but in the end plans changed, flights were too expensive etc. I learned very early that no matter what is said in the interview, the sit is not confirmed until BOTH parties confirm and accept it. As a result, even if it does sound promising in the interview, I would stipulate as a HO I am officially sending the invitation confirmation and will give sitter 24 hours to accept. If confirmation not received during that time, I would assume they are declining and I will withdraw the invitation and move on. As a sitter I never apply to a sit unless I am willing and able to do it if offered. We interviewed sitters for a sit in December. It went great. We sent the confirmation immediately and they responded with their confirmation immediately. It is great when it works out that way!
