‘Local sits’ doesn’t have to be the next town over. Pending where you live, you could go and explore a very different part of the country which could be a lot of fun and still would keep you relatively ‘local’ because you’re a resident of the same country.
For international sits it helps to have some reviews under your belt as others have said. Nonetheless…sit number 1 for me was London (I do not live in the UK), sit number 2 Vancouver, Canada, etc. The first time I did a sit in my own country was during covid… I’ve now done over 50 sits…

People like you who have experience with big dogs and won’t take any cr*p from them are who we would choose. I would hesitate however on someone with no reviews as the last time we did that, the Dogsitters crashed our car. However, they took great care of the dogs and ultimately that’s all I care about. I would prefer someone local but that’s not always possible. We have had Dogsitters from the uk come here to spain no problem.
