Great, thanks!

The home looks very lovely and comfortable, and the pets are adorable

A few suggestions:

  • Consider alternative headlines that demonstrate more appeal, like “Spacious Retreat Steps from Famous Rugby Town” or “Playful Dogs in Cozy & Modern Rugby Home with Hot Tub”

  • Approx. how long can the dogs be left alone at home on a given day?

  • Roughly how long are each of the walks the dogs go on?

  • You’ve listed that the town/home are accessible by public transit. What kind of transit? Is there a train station in Rugby connecting the town to other regions? Are there buses that go around the area? (These are important questions for sitters traveling without a car.)

  • If a sitter were to be working from the house during the day, would the dogs generally be quiet enough for that?

  • You’ve mentioned scenic views. Are there any particular walks, hikes, or parks nearby that you really enjoy?

Your listing looks adorable. If we were already heading to your area, I would apply. I would assume with rising cost of living, sitters have to think twice about the travel cost to get to a petsit versus a few years ago. Good luck though, your pets look super cute.

Thank-you! I think I have some editing to do…

I don’t know when you published your sit offer and i can only speak for myself, but I usually plan long ahead. As my personal situation requires me to balance a truckload of other obligations, a planning a sit is for me preferably done at least 3 months ahead. i had all my longer vacations this year and my sit for end of May and end of August booked by early February. Last week i added a one week sit in July, but this is for me almost “last minute”. I would publish an offer for a sit as early as possible but certainly 2-3 months before that actual date. But this may be totally different for other people.

One other consideration: For sitters who sit ONLY dogs, they will NOT find your listing in a search because it includes the “small pets” I don’t really know how to help you get around that. I typically sit only cats, but I learned that to see all the listings I have to include fish, reptiles, small pets, and birds to see everything that might be of interest to me.

I’m guessing most sitters comfortable with dogs would also be comfortable with guinea pigs, but if they are searching for sits with dogs or cats, they will not find yours unfortunately.

That’s very helpful. I will consider this

Thank you everyone for your advice. Despite my efforts I still haven’t found a sitter this time. With the holiday beling so close, I’m resorting to boarding kennels for the dogs and a lovely neighbour to drop in for the guinea pigs and check the house. Not the best outcome! Lots of valuable lessons learnt (including start to search much earlier) Thanks again

I favorited your listing and would love to meet you when we tour the UK in 2027-2028!

Your listing looks great. A couple more suggestions:

  1. Take new photos of the puppy. Some might see the puppy photos and pass, but your dog is 1 now.
  2. State that you will have cleaners come on the day of departure. Sitter will not have to clean. Such a large house is daunting! Your home is beautiful…

Good point! Nellie is slightly more mature now.
I used to clean domestic and commercial property for a living and really enjoy cleaning my own house. My plan is (always) to leave the house immaculate. Maybe I should add that too. Thanks for your advice!
I’m sure you’ll love the UK

@Kirsty1
Your listing is still showing as live - if you have made alternative arrangements and no longer need a sitter for these dates you should end the listing .

Thank you! Have just ended the listing. Wanted to make sure the kennels was 100% secure booking before I ended the listing.

Hi Jenny
Would you be so kind to see if I have successfully linked my listing? I would really appreciate some feedback! Thanks in advance

Hi @ClaireCanuk :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, I can see your listing link in your profile!

Your listing looks lovely @ClaireCanuk as does Bailey and you sound like welcoming hosts so that’s all fab. Maybe add where he sleeps as some sitters don’t do bed sharing. Maybe break down the info on the house and areas to visit into some bullet points with a little less history just to make it easier on the eye. Could you offer to pick up a sitter from a local station if they have no car and mention if you’d like them the night before for a handover? Other than that it looks pretty great. #bestofluck

Thanks for letting me know

Agree with @Cuttlefish ; I had seen your listing and would have LOVED to do it, but I know nothing about dogs and just sit cats! I’m sure you will get plenty of applicants.

I could certainly pick the sitter up from the station so have added this, I didn’t think of it before so thanks for the suggestion!

Your sit looks awesome to me, but I am in the US. The only addition you might make, only if you’re comfortable with it, is offering playtime in the back garden in place of walks as an option. There may be a perfect sitter who is just unwilling to chance walking such a large dog who may react. I believe you that is the exception in his behavior, but sitters may not be willing to risk it. Anyways, good luck. I’m sure your perfect sitter is out there.
