@JMW-PVD-RI I am a big fan of RISD and Providence in general. That area has so much to offer and I love art and design.

So if it was me, as your sitter, I might want 2 or 3 days (within the 9 days of your sit) to be out and about all day. With this in mind, could you have a trusted friend/neighbor stop by on 2 or 3 pre-arranged dates to let your pup out at midday? This would acknowledge that you embrace the basic concept of Trusted Housesitters – a fair and equal exchange.

We had a previous host do that for us. It was only a four-day sit, but on the second day, there was an event we wanted to attend. The hosts kindly arranged for a neighbor to let the pup out at midday.

It was nice to have that flexibility and it was indicative of how caring these hosts were. We were their first sitters! They have since gone on to have many successful sitters in their home, in part, because they understand the equal exchange aspect of THS.

So anyway, just offering a different perspective that might help you land a good sitter. Flexibility is key. Best of luck to you.

Hopping on the tails of other responders, my main concerns from a potential sitting perspective are three :

  1. Your description of Hamilton’s “separation anxiety”. More details are essential in order for you to ensure that you get a sitter with the patience and experience to keep both him and the sitter safe and comfortable. That said, there is a contradiction between this trait/behaviour and your noting that he can be “left alone for more than 6h”. These two sound incongruous.

  2. Streamlining the pics would be helpful. A bathroom pic and sleeping quarters incl the “daybed” are needed.

 3. 3. Finally 3. Finally , a more welcoming tone overall might draw more potential sitters. Remember, you are inviting people into your home to care for the most precious (or one of them) being in your life. This is not a business/abnb/salesperson relationship (stipends are against THS rules) it is a personal one; and I hope that you find a sitter to give Hamilton the love and care he deserves.

If it is for the good looking pit, I think it looks fine. If I was interested in being in the area at that time, I would apply.
