Can you give us an update on what you decided to do? 
I was given no advice by THS at all. I just used my 50+ years’ experience of human psychology - and borrowed a bit of common sense from friends. Eight years and 31 5-star sits later, I’m still relying on those two factors.
THS can’t - and shouldn’t have to - hold our hands every step of the way. In fact, Lawks! - Please don’t encourage them to add any more Helpful Check Boxes and Reminders..!
A lot of people who found their way organically to the site, figured out how to use it. Many of us already had experience with similar types of exchanges like couch surfers or even hosteling. THS is now advertising massively as a “pet sitting service” equal to companies like Rover and is not very good at giving newbies a sense of what or how to do things. They have ads implying that “their” sitters are all angelic beings happy to help, with the implication that THS stands behind every sit and sitter.
