Revolting Pet Parent

Shella, no obviously it is completely different this is a blind forum for sitters to ask for help. It is not real-time, and obviously brief.

Your comment criticizing “style” is not only unwelcome, but feels hurtfully out of place.

The man thought it was ok to discuss the fact that his female primary care wouldn’t perform a prostate (finger up the —) exam on him, while I was alone in the car with him on the way back to the transit station. He was very creepy.

My communication here as well as with hosts is respectful and on-topic.

The situation you describe – in a piecemeal fashion that was VERY HARD to understand or follow – sounds disturbing. A forum may be brief, but it is still a way to COMMUNICATE. Feel free to flag this too if it hurts your feelings.

Also I kind of wish people would bear in mind a few things:

  • when a horrible sit happens you have to simultaneously
  • communicate it in detail to THS
  • find a back up plan
  • be attentive to the animal
  • keep the homeowner at bay (with their issues)
  • keep loved ones in the loop
  • scrap all your plans
  • and try to ask for help via the forum
  • maintain your rating and standing

This may make it overwhelming to type to the standards to people like Shella. I mean go listen to 911 calls and try to criticize people who call for help and are “poor communicators”

Can anyone seriously not understand that strange things happen at sits and it can have a really jarring impact on sitters?

One thing that struck me when reading this, if I was to get dozens of unsolicited texts, and detailing stuff I had already asked them not to: then my boundary would be to inform them I will only open the 1st or the last…. Or whichever number text of each day, & to summarise anything important i needed to know!

this is how you’d reply to the HO?

I love it. Totally respects your own time, space, and purpose! Well said

I had one pet parent who lectured me on my weight and told me I was going to die if I drank coke. They also let their 3 cats pee and spray all over the house so it stank and we could never quite get away from the smell.

The cats had and entire litter room with those giant robot rotating litter boxes. They were so caked in feces that it was embedded in the mechanism and all around the entrance of them…
