Should I ask the sitter to pick up dog poop in the yard?

Yes definitely as long as you are leaving the yard clean and not expecting them to clean up other than what is new from when they arrive. Usually it makes it easier if you already have either the equipment and a trashcan outside or the baggies but it is normal upkeep, just like you would clean up after them after a walk.

 I hear you. I let the dog out in the backyard before my hosts left this morning and was getting a poop bag when they said, oh, no need. They said the gardener will just mow the poop into the grass during his visits. My inclination is to pick up poop no matter where a dog drops it, because I don’t want me or others to walk on it, or for it to attract flies, or for maybe another dog to come along and eat it or walk across it. Or maybe someone’s kid walks into it.

Absolutely! We always pick up poop on a daily basis when on dog sits, but feel a bit narked when we realise there’s old stuff still there. This is not very hospitable (and I’d mention when reviewing if it was clearly not an oversight).

YES, absolutely

When we petsit, my son looks and picks up poop in the yard daily. I can’t stand the thought of someone or the dog accidentally stepping on it and bringing feces into the house. What’s not cool is for you to leave 3 days worth of poop in the yard for the sitter to pick up the day the petsit starts
