This proves that it was intentional dishonest behaviour.
I agree with everyone else that this is a major issue. At the very least, it should be mentioned in the review. If you want, you can report it to THS, or raise a member dispute, especially if you have documented proof of the toddler
I think it’s worth mentioning that in your review, just in case they decide to deny that in their response.
I shudder to think where they had him stuffed away.
If there is no mention of a child in their profile then take a screenshot of it before they have a chance to add him in. Otherwise, they may claim that you should have known.
“Should have known” – but even if the profile says “traveling with children” (which i have seen others have), wouldn’t you at least think about proactively sharing the AGES of those children to make sure the house/animals are ok with them? Children could mean a baby or a teen!!!
Just a reminder of your words. If the profile states the sitters are traveling with children but doesn’t states ages, then ask.
Without being a fly on the wall none of us can know for certain what happened here or why. It’s odd that they arrived without a child but then reportedly had a child coming and going from the house- were they child minding for a family member maybe? Was the child unexpectedly dropped onto them maybe? So many possibilities but the key issue is they didn’t communicate to you the change in situation (whatever the reason for the child being an unexpected guest).
One question though, if they’d told you last minute that they were caring for a toddler would you have cancelled? Were you in a position to cancel and make other arrangements?
Your review needs to be a series of simple statements allowing future HOs know how surprised you were to learn about the child given that your pets aren’t especially child friendly.
I’m not quite sure I understand your comment. I just feel the homeowner should state that in her listing so as sitters with children don’t apply with her home not being child proof. There’s no need for an explanation.
ok, that is just bizarre. Where did they stash the kid until you left?? Agree with others that this speaks to a very deliberate attempt to deceive.
thanks for the added details - sometimes it can be hard to understand what’s happened from a post.
Sure. I’m not saying this profile did…I’m saying that I have seen others that do
Sorry I wasn’t clear. There was enough for the time I was gone, but I came home to it empty. That should have been communicated.
I’d be livid! My house is a child-free zone. For the same reasons it’s a tarantula-free zone. If I discovered that sitters had allowed a toadler to run amok in it, they’d be bad-reviewed to the back of next month.
I wonder if they were expecting you not to mind… Because it’s a BAYBEEEE and we all love BAYBEEEEZ…
I would be furious if I were you. To not disclose such potential liability is outrageous. And it is such a huge omission that it surely is on purpose. I would definitely leave an appropriate review, I’m so sorry this happened to you it must’ve been very stressful.
