I have read some horror stories here from both sitters and HOs. It is unfortunate because I do think there are some great quality people out there who would be good fits. People who know someone in the area or aren’t interested in being away from
the area all day.
I would also prefer a low turnout but good honest sitter applications, than a high number of people who don’t care about looking after my pet.

I do have a couple of sitters who I have kept in touch with, who I will consider inviting but in case they’re unavailable I wanted to hear what everyone’s thoughts were first as I didn’t want to be too wordy or too demanding.

Sorry to hear about the various hardships. Ugh.

In the end, you get to choose who stays in your home, and you make the rules.

If I were an owner, I would choose an “older” sitter who is not interested in a party. There are plenty of sitters out there who would respect your rules and love your dog as you would.

Think the listing looks good @wendy_chicago and you have trimmed the responsibility section and made the updates twice a day which is better. It is quite prescriptive and could feel a little needy but it’s your call. I also can’t see the Bowie test now which we don’t like at all on listings. Interestingly none of your past sitters are marked down so sitters can’t see any flagged issues/challenges on here. Did you not review them? You could also ask for applications from sitters aged 35+ and with 10 5star reviews or more is another way to screen. #happynewhome

Hello and thank you, @Cuttlefish!
The two really bad experiences we had don’t appear to be on THS anymore.
For the sake of privacy I will say that there was one young sitter who asked about leaving the dog alone all night but ultimately did not after we said no, and we expressed how surprised we were that she would even ask that. Other than that, she was good, a little distracted with other house things but nothing worth to mark down.
In my experience we’ve had the best experiences with people around our age or older so 35+ couples sounds like a great idea. I’ll add it in the morning and will reach out to past sitters before I add some dates. Thank you again :folded_hands:t2:
