Yes, especially when they overlap with a confirmed sit on THS platform …. as I write this another invitation comes into my inbox for dates that overlap with 2 already confirmed sits …it’s a waste of everyone’s time …
This function would enable a sitter to pick up a “better” sit and cancel an already agreed one which THS is trying to stop from happening.
I would be happy for owners to be able to message me to start a general conversation about my availability for future sits .
However being able to invite me for dates that overlap with a confirmed sit gives them false hope and confusion/ distrust when I reply that I am not available.
Randomly messaging sitters is quite a hit & miss. I had someone contact me a few days ago, 20 min from where I live. I let them know that I don’t normally look for sits that close to home, besides not being available.
@Lisabentson7 Something that would attract me is an Owner who proactively tells me that we can entertain in their home, we can have people over for lunch/dinner and/or to swim in the pool or use the hot tub. This signifies a level of generosity and understanding that makes me feel appreciated.
Another idea: Set up a cleaning service for the last day of the Sit and place this information in your listing. The Sitter does not have to clean at all. That would be attractive.
I would LOVE if THS would block HO from inviting me on sits when I’m unavailable but my only concern with that is that my calendar show I’m busy the full day I leave and arrive for other sits when actually I would be able to hop over most of the time on the same day. But if they could incorporate that I’d love it. I feel so bad turning down sits
Yes, THS should be able to mark a day with a “half square” triangle shape to show that you are available for a half day. That really makes a lot of sense!

Try and be flexible on dates by a day or two. Consider the sitter/guests travel. I’ve seen a lot of holiday listings that either ended or started on 12.25, 12.31, or 1.1. I guess the HO’s wanted an easy flight day but it sounds miserable for the guest.
