What’s your plan re booking fees?

Different plans are needed depending on the number of sits that members find. People who can only find 3 sits per year shouldn’t pay the same price as those who can find 10 sits per year.

Why not start a pet sitting business based entirely on booking fees and your passionate philosophy about what people should and should not pay. Your innovative, inspiring, never before tried approach could become the new Amazon of the pet sitting industry. I would have been willing to be an early investor but all my extra cash is tied up in my THS Premium membership.

Thank you for the compliment; these are just ideas that cross a Petsitter’s mind. I am not the only one to have ideas. Starting a startup is more complicated than that and you need a lot of money for creating an application.

We’ve already paid membership fee increases. When I started in 2017, I paid €71, then €89, and since 2023 I’ve been paying €119. My experience on THS hasn’t improved; it’s actually worsened.

That’s rather surprising. You’d think that as you gain experience and reviews you’d get more sits and better ones. If things are getting worse, and others don’t have the same complaints, then you gotta try and figure out what’s going on.

As I’ve already said, since the rule of 5 applications it’s much more difficult. My number of applications has decreased significantly; it may have been divided by 5, so it’s simple math: the probability of getting a sit has also decreased.

We would need statistics to compare ourselves and understand the situation of the entire THS community. Perhaps there are more sitters. I haven’t changed anything on my end.

How do you know that others don’t have the same complaints ? There are 220,000 members

I hadn’t noticed any of my Facebook posts getting removed - probably the Facebook group saw it as a promotion.

Sorry, I have not seen your DM - What name did you use when you sent it? - It may have gone to my spam box

Given the amount of complaining about THS by countless members, it would seem to naturally follow that if others had the same problems that you do, they would express them.

Someone’s gotta be getting those sits. The early bird gets the worm. But the second mouse gets the cheese!

Somewhat. If I see that someone already complained well, I rather not add another message with the same content.

If only more members would do that. Especially in regard to the booking fees.

THS should just do a survey and share it ! But they won’t.

It’s fairly obvious what THS thinks about member feedback.

Apologies, I hadn’t seen that. However, you are just confirming what I said - You are offering me a special price of £55.20 to join a platform which currently has 4 listings worldwide - I genuinely don’t think this ‘deal’ is anywhere near good enough to tempt new members.

Thanks for your reply Colin. It’s not what I’m offering, it’s what they are offering. I joined them as a sitter after winning a free years membership in a competition. I’ll feed back your comments though.

Personally I’m unconcerned that they only have a few sits listed so far as they only opened the website a few days ago. I don’t expect that THS had anymore than that in their first few days either. They have to start somewhere.

I think you should pay attention to service changing fatigue. I´m happy to pay 50 coins -to stay where I am-, so I don’t need to learn a new service, set up a new profile, start to collect reviews again, learn what the profile of the HOs there is… So what do you do to reel me in? What did THS do? They looked trustworthy (yeah haha) and offered me value for my money (reliable sits). Meaning, they had the size. So you asking for 50 coins when I don’t know what I will get and I have to do the work of leaning a new platform is not going to cut it. I don’t think any of the new sites will, but I HAVE joined every one that offers free months in the beginning. Because it means two thing: almost no risk for me (I still give up my info and time), and others (hosts in my case of need) flocking in to try it.

I have sitters right now at home because we’re travelling.
I was waiting for this sit to begin because after this I’m leaving THS.
When the sit will end I will cancel my membership auto renewal, then ask for all my data (that I already migrated to another platform), then contact all the people I’ve met to send them my number and the link to the other platform. If the want to follow or keep in touch they will do.
The other platform already sent us a first newsletter stating the increase of subscriptions coming from THS and confirming they are never going to do something like that (beside, they were born before THS and never changed anything).
Then I’ll ask to delete all of my data. Because in March my subscription is expiring.

This other platform was “born” before THS and yet only have a fraction of the membership base.

That oughta tell you something right there. Look before you leap.
