[image] Hello everyone! Today’s discussion is about end-of-sit cleaning expectations. It comes up from time to time in the Community, and because “clean” means different things to different people, it can cause friction. Pet sitters… What does your standard end-of-sit clean look like? Have you…

Here’s the viewpoint of the homeowner – I do a very thorough cleaning before the sit (including cleaning the inside of the vacuum), including cleaning out the refrigerator and freezer and washing windows inside and out. I also leave space in the bathroom and in the closet for their stuff, because my…

@naalehuretiree I do exactly the same as you before my sitters arrive. When I’m sitting I aim to leave a home as if I’ve never been there. I take photos of kitchen counter tops & cupboards at the start so I can make sure everything is put back where the owner left it.

Yes! Taking photos is what I tell all my housesitters to do. Even the experienced ones haven’t thought of doing that, and it really helps.

@Mark_B , all these statements appear to be sourced from adhoc THS webpages. I took quick peek and did not spot any reference to cleanliness in the THS Terms of Service. If so, and I may have missed something, then it appears that cleanliness is an encouragement rather than a requirement of THS?

I love washing & drying them/ hanging them up to dry if I have time, at the minimum I strip the bed & place linen in the laundry basket. Once I kn…

I clean up after myself in the areas I use (kitchen, bathroom, guest room, living room/family room). I don’t do any dusting or mopping. I use my own sheets and towels. At the end of the sit, I remake the bed (unless asked not to) and leave a note that the bedding is clean. On the rare occasion that…

I will strip the sheets but never have time to do a full load of wash. Once I was asked to remake the bed and I said I would if you left clean sheets out. Of course, they didn’t and I couldn’t find them anywhere in their messy closet so I couldn’t do it. Frankly, if I were these homeowners, I wouldn…

I have always done the same thing because I don’t trust myself to remember where everything goes that I may have moved while making space for my things, especially in the bedroom or bathroom.

A warm welcome @Letty to the forum. I am sure you will enjoy the many discussions here.
