We are a retired English couple living in Brighton Sussex UK. We’ve been married for over 40 years with a grown up son living with his wife in Perth Australia. We both had professional careers and retired early aged 60 to travel and explore new hobbies. We have owned heritage houses and land but 7 years ago downsized to a modern Penthouse by the sea. We had horses/dogs/cats/small animals but now we have none. I have been walking dogs for free on the ‘Borrowmydoggy’ platform where I have walked and shared whole day adventures with my heart dog Zorro for the past 6 years, other dogs that I walk are for owners who are ill. I also care for a neighbour’s house cat whilst she is away, visiting twice daily. I volunteer in a local Museum and I’m also a City tour guide.
My husband Dave likes to play golf and walking with his friends in the surrounding hills. He also enjoys his spreadsheets managing our pensions! We both enjoy Premier League Football and support our local team. Dave enjoys fixing things and does minor DIY for our elderly neighbours in our apartment block.
Our plan is to offer to house/pet sit in the Perth area of Western Australia when we visit our son and his wife as this will allow us more independence. We’re also considering moving there possibly in the next 10 years. We plan to gain experience and positive reviews in our home City prior to offering ourselves in Perth. I also visit elderly relatives who reside in the Channel Islands every 8 weeks so will be looking for sits in Jersey too.
