Erlend

Retired guy living in the countryside just south of Oslo, Norway. I live with my husband and our one dog, Albert. He’s a mix between Border collie, Collie and Norwegian Elk dog and was re homed to us at the age of 18 months. We is the, for now, last in a row of dogs. Until Dec ‘21 we also had a Staffordshire Bull terrier, and before that a Rhodesian ridgeback, an American cocker spaniel and so it goes back to childhood with a break of a few years when in university and at the start of our careers. Currently we also have an Icelandic horse and a dozen pond fish. We used to have hens as well, but the border colli part of Albert found that a bit stressful so they moved to our neighbors.

I have always been around animals and have also volunteered a bit for different animal rights organizations.

Pet sitting to me is all about the animal and what we can do together. Even though it might appear tempting to use the service as a way to get free vacation lodging it is much more to me. The company of animals and the shared experiences we have is so rewarding. It is a very interesting dialogue reminding me that there are always new things to learn. Each animal is its own personality and the more I stay with different animals I learn a lot about myself. There is a spiritual dimension to it which I embrace.
