Hi everyone
I’ve only recently joined TH and trying to familiarise myself with how it all works. I retired from my 24 year old small business last year (thanks to an unscrupulous landlord) but taking it as a message from the universe that it’s time to take life a bit easier and start to plan long dreamed of vacations. My husband will retire later this year so we are hoping to travel to the UK for 2-3 months during Spring/Summer 2024 and explore Cornwall in particular and some of the other counties as well. We have always had a menagerie of whatever ‘strays’ found us and needed love and a home. Trying to scale back now we are older and wanting to travel. I joined a cat rescue as a volunteer when my business ended thinking that would be a great way to have cats back in our life without being ‘tied’. Our two very senior kitties both passed a few years ago and I was too broken hearted to replace. A family of 6 foster cats with kittens quickly degenerated into 3 ‘foster fails’ and we now have 3 beautiful 1 year old cats . We really miss our ‘babies’ when we are away so HS seems the perfect way to have a real ‘home away from home’ vacation. What could be nicer than spending a day exploring and coming home to cuddles & snuggles from a beautiful fur baby. We are comfortable and have some experience with most animals. We live on a rural/bush block of 6 acres -3 acres of which is garden. A 30 year work in progress! We have geese & ducks which adopted us and regular visits from possums/wallabies/pademelons/bettongs/bandicoots/echidnas/quolls and the occasional tassie devil and platypus. I look forward to being part of this group and enjoy reading about all your adventures and learning how to be a successful 5​:star: house sitter.
