Piolo
Hey! I’m Piolo. Nice to meet you.
I love breakfast. And coffee. Espresso is my fuel. And avocado is one of my true loves.
I think there are no more perfect creatures in this world than kittens. Puppies are almost a tie.
Batman and Sombra are my two little panthers. “Batmi” was my first black cat, then, with a magical copy+paste+bold from destiny, “Sombri” arrived: When my mom died I moved to her house for a couple of months to pack her stuff up. A nice neighbor, which I’ve met before, rang the doorbell one day and when I opened the door there he was with “my” black cat in his arms. "He was almost in the avenue, good luck I caught it”. I thanked him a lot and was about to receive the cat when I looked inside the house and there was my Batman, sleeping pleasantly. Anyways… I ended up taking him in and had never regretted it.
I am a speaker and a writer (in Spanish, tho). I’ve published three books and lots of articles (I started working for a magazine when I was 17 years old). But mostly, I’m an improviser: I’ve learned, taught and performed improvisational theatre around the world (in more than 10 countries) for the last 22 years .
At least once a year I pet sit Martina, my beautiful senior doghter (with tons of cuteness and some special needs), and Morusa, a lovely and demanding cat princess, for several weeks each time. Both fluffy sweethearts live with my wonderful ex-wife, who has moved from Mexico City to Chicago, to L.A., to San Francisco. And each time she and her boyfriend go on a trip, I get to travel as well! Some times I also take care of Melo, a really handsome and fun young cat that lives next to my ex-wife’s. I do it happily and for free, but their humans always give me goodies, like delicious food or WholesFood gift cards. <3
I almost never eat sugar or flour, but I give myself permission when I’m on a trip (another excellent reason to travel!). I like to take long walks and get to know neighborhoods on foot around the world. I really enjoy discovering parks, local coffee shops, bookstores, brunch spots and even supermarkets or convenience stores. I’m always fascinated with how much beautiful Martina is a conversation starter. I’ve even made really good friends walking her, both in Mexico City and in Chicago.
I like to run, bike, skate and hike. I don’t really go out at night unless I’m performing. I started running recently and had participated in some races: in the city, trail, Spartan, half marathons… and even though I love this experiences I still feel like I’m more of an indoorsy person. Nothing beats a good series, furry friends and awesome snacks.
Have you read Guardians of Being? You should! It’s a beautiful book about spiritual teachings from our dogs and cats. I believe they guard our souls… So I’d be honored to guard your home and your pets.
