My husband and I love the experiences of international travel and living which includes pet sitting, gardening anywhere and learning first hand the joys of other cultures. During our work lives, combining our professional travels, we were fortunate to travel to 57 countries. Throughout our lives we have hosted international students and visitors from countries around the world as opportunities arose and love the fellowship of hospitality for the international community.
As animal lovers, we have had our own pet fish, birds, dogs and cats over the years plus hamsters and bunnies when our children were living at home with us. We still enjoy feeding the wild birds that frequent our property here (quail, finches, Cardinals and their varieties, Orioles, Woodpeckers and many more!) with bunnies sharing the quail seed blocks, too. We are also avid gardeners and love taking care of houseplants or things grown outside - our large property of over an acre has two mini-orchards, mini vineyard, raised vegetable beds and a large flower garden besides the landscape plantings and flowers throughout.
As home exchangers for 9 years now, we have enjoyed that community of people who share their homes with the rules of trust and courtesy in caring for others’ property and possessions. Not one experience of others using our home or us using theirs has been anything other than a delightful, respectful experience which allows the convenience and comforts of living in a home while in another country.
We are looking forward to our first sitter experience, which we have done informally for friends throughout our marriage as well as in the home exchange experience.
