Hi I’m a retired teacher. I am South African by birth but since 2001 I’ve been based in the UK. I’ve travelled widely in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I’ve also been to Ireland, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. I’m adventurous, but in latter years have been plagued with arthritis, so have had to slow down a bit. Also, as a pensioner I have limited funds, so house sitting is a good prospect for more travelling. My UK home is a narrowboat which I’ve had since 2014, but my son is refurbishing it (a long process as he lives in Estonia and is a professional sailing coach, so travels a lot). My daughter and family live in E Sussex, so I’m happy to house sit anywhere in the UK. I have a car and am used to driving long distances. I look forward to exploring some more, and to have pets, even temporary ones, as I haven’t had any of my own for many years. I’ve been house sitting since well before retirement, so look forward to continuing doing some more. I will be dipping into the forums, including the café, for chats and information.
