My kids are raised and “have left the nest”…

They’re off living their best lives in this big wonderful world…

So I’m taking a:

Walkabout?
Gap year?
Going to find myself?

I’ve heard a few terms for it!

Basically I’m going traveling; hitting the road; following a life-long dream of traveling.

Originally I wrote that this pet-sitting travel journey would be possibly less than a year, and possibly just Mexico. Having now completed 2 months of pet-sitting in Mexico, I have been bitten by the travel bug and I am off to pet-sit around the whole world!

I would LOVE to put my years of experience as a mom-and-caretaker-of-small-creatures to use as trade for lovely places to stay.

Ooh… SO MANY! I’m definitely a foodie. I love cooking for people. Playing with recipes. I’m a vegan chef, by education and hobby, but not by career, nor by lifestyle.

Meeting new people, trying different foods, learning new languages, taking photos of everything that inspires me… Funny how ALL my hobbies are travel related!

Beauty is my oxygen. Mexico was… Whoa!!!.. the whole vibe of Mexico… it was so EVERYTHING!!!

Having recently left the fire department, the “next career” is yet to be determined. That’s what this travel time is for. To get the perspective that being far enough away from the familiar, for long enough, inevitably brings.

My home now has a sweet family leasing it, my 2 cats are set with their own pet sitter, and I am now free to follow this dream.

***A note about transportation: I am arriving by plane, train, bus, or boat.
If your home is in a remote area, please know that I do not plan on renting cars as it’s a considerable expense these days.
Please also know that I am an avid walker and hiker. I am not daunted by treks. Getting there is part of the adventure.

One pet sit host left a vehicle for me to use. Another left a vehicle specifically just for a weekly supply run and any emergency.
There are many many options! Creativity abounds!!!
