A note of Appreciation

Dear Sitters and Pet Parents,

As both a pet parent and a house sitter, I’ve experienced the wonderful joys that come with trusting someone to care for our beloved pets and homes. I wanted to take a moment to share a perspective that some might resonate with,

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to have had several house sitters who went above and beyond—leaving my home even cleaner than I left it, ensuring my pets were happy and well-loved, and sometimes even surprising me with a loaf of freshly baked bread! These experiences have truly highlighted the kindness and dedication of house sitters.

However, it’s important to remember that no one is perfect. I’ve encountered situations where a sitter might forget a single dish or leave a trash bag unemptied. While these may seem like minor oversights, I believe they shouldn’t overshadow the overall positive experience. We are all human, and a little understanding can go a long way.

Let’s foster a supportive environment that encourages house sitters to do their best without the fear of being harshly judged for minor mistakes. A star rating should reflect the overall care and attention given, not just a single slip.

So, to all the homeowners out there: let’s embrace a little flexibility and gratitude. After all, we are all in this together

Thank you to all the amazing house sitters who dedicate their time and love to our pets and households!

I know I’ve made a somewhat similar post but sometimes people skip the positive ones, so I just love to remind them

Yay! Agree. We’ve had the most amazing Sitters! Some have become dear friends. Many have sat for us more than once. A few always stop by if they’re passing through town. We leave gift certificates to our favorite places. Maps, tourist information.
It gives us peace of mind when we leave. Enables us to travel more often and for longer periods of time.
THANK YOU SITTERS!

It’s always good to read appreciative comments.
Thank you Justbeyou.
As a pet sitter, I always find it quite a challenge on the day that the pet sit ends, particularly when caring for a dog.
I am normally in a frenzy in making sure that the dog is walked & fed, bed changed, home is clean with all bins emptied & I am packed ready to go for when the Home Owners return.
Of course, I do what I can in advance but the pressure is definitely on during the last day.

I feel the same as a HO! I spend hours, truly hours, cleaning the house. All shiny clean. I provide slippers, robes, an entire dresser empty, clean robes and slippers. An almost empty fridge. Lotions and soaps from a local store. Beverages of choice.
Can’t say that my spices aren’t out of date
I treat our sitters as welcome guests!
You reap what you sow.
