It’d be helpful on the homeowner amenities details to include the type of air conditioning, specifically swamp cooler (aka evaporative coolers) vs central air. Similar idea as types of heating. The reason for this request is anyone with a mold allergy is going to get sick or not feel well at a house with a swamp cooler due to the nature of how it works. As a sitter, we can certainly ask in our application, but it’d be much more efficient and less burden on HOs and sitters if it could just be addressed in the HO listing.
Thank you for your consideration!
What’s a “swamp cooler”?
Here in Europe, if we do that at all, we almost exclusively use generic split units. Some office highrises and shopping centres will have “central air conditioning”, but that’s it.
Swamp coolers use water to cool. They can be very efficient in hot, dry climates. Commonly used in the Western part of the United States, Mexico, Australia, and the Middle East. Because they use water to cool, condensation is formed which creates some mold that for most everyone it is not bad or harmful. However, if a person has a mold allergy or sensitivity, then it will give them headaches, nausea, etc.
We use split system in my house.
swamp coolers I believe its called evaporative air-conditioning in Australia (uses water)
Yes, that is the other name used for it.
