Asking for money

I doubt if it is against any rules. I could see a sitter asking for this if the HO asked the sitter to be there a day early and a day later, or if the sitter needed a hotel because the HO changed sit dates.

Ah, sure, that would make sense

We’ve had small, older dogs used to having someone at home and needing frequent potty breaks. We’ve also had applicants whose profiles made clear that their first priority was a vacation and not a pet sit. We rejected those applications. If it’s not a fit, both sides move on, but the whole point for HOs is trying to limit changes to the pet’s routine.

This isn’t the way THS works. This member should be reported. The HO should have known better.

@Mark_B @Jenny @Maeve

We see you’ve flagged Katie’s post where she linked to a sitter on THS who charges for sitting.

Before the link was removed, I was able to read this sitter’s profile and the HO reviews in which they discussed her charges for pet sitting.

Needless to say, it was unsettling that a sitter on THS is charging up front for their services.

Can you please let us all know if you’ve looked into that sitter?

I’m asking because I feel it’s important to ensure the integrity of the THS ecosystem is intact: free pet care in exchange for free accommodations.

Yup, got it - thanks for flagging.
This has been shared with Member Services (initially).

If anyone see’s a profile/listing of concern they can be shared directly with our Member Service team by email support@trustedhousesitters.com

As a reminder…

Sitters don’t charge. They love pets, and are often looking to travel/explore the area - see this page for more info.

Top Tip: Owners who support sitters to achieve their goals e.g. travel, may find they get more applications.

EDIT: added top tip.

Please report them, they should be booted off. And please don’t give money to sitters, we have been sitters for awhile, all 5 star reviews and we would never accept, or give, cash. That’s not what this platform is about.

Your post was flagged as inappropriate: the community feels it is offensive, abusive, to be hateful conduct or a violation of our community guidelines.

This is what I woke up to.

“Inappropriate”? “Hateful”? '“Abusive”?

According to the message I received about my “inappropriate, hateful, abusive” post, “the community” flagged it. Somehow I doubt that.

How about “thank you for bringing this to the community’s and THS’s attention. Obviously this person should not be on the platform and we appreciate your keen eye. We have forwarded this to Member Services.”

I am disgusted.
