I’m based here in Austin too. There are some great weekend spots nearby like the Barton Creek Greenbelt and McKinney Falls — perfect for day hikes without needing to go too far. Pace Bend Park is also awesome if you’re into lake views.
I don’t have extra transportation either, but I’m always down to coordinate a meetup and carpool if others are interested. What kind of distance are you looking to hike — casual 3–5 miles or longer backpacking routes?
Would be great to get a small group together!
