Belgium Brussels Public Transport

Hello everyone

I am stying in Brussels for 3 weeks in August. I have trouble finding the right public transport ticket for Belgium/Brussels. I am a 23 old student from Germany. Am I fine with the seasonal 49Euro Student ticket? I want to travel in Brussels but also visit the nereast cities.

Thank you!

Hey there,
I very recently travelled Belgium.
I am not sure about the student pass, but there is an app called TEC (Transport En Commun)
which is the transport app for Belgium. You can make a free account, enter your passport or ID, and book all your bus & train tickets on it. When getting on a bus, you just have to validate your ticket via the app. You purchase a ticket in advance, and it’s valid for the next 90 minutes.

I think on the app you can add if you are a student or senior etc and it gives you the correct prices for whatever category you are. There is also the Trainline app for trains, and/or the ‘SNCB/NMBS: Timetables & tickets’ official Belgium app for trains.

You can also always purchase physical train tickets at any train station (and you should be able to add student discount).

I don’t know what the student pass includes, but it sounds much cheaper than €50 for a round trip to 1 city on the train  We wanted to go to Bruges & Antwerp (from Mons) but it was just too expensive! :upside_down_face::laughing:

Anyway, hope that helps
