Given your argument, is it fair to say that mostly all concerns that sitters have can be alleviated if they just procure hotel accommodations? From issues with cleanliness to specific travel dates, they should just get a hotel….

The issue isn’t with purchasing services or people’s expectations, it’s an ethos/culture issue. For the people that are actually on here for the right reasons, it goes beyond transactional. It’s building a community that relies on mutual respect and basically the kindness of absolute strangers…
We’ve lucked out and met some really exceptional people through THS and it is those relationships that keep us on the platform. Procuring pet sitting services is much less than procuring accommodations so we definitely don’t host to save money…it’s for the joy of hosting and the great people we get to meet.
