Booking Fee: We’ve heard your feedback

The business is back to growing revenue post the pandemic years when like most businesses it took a hit. So revenue in the last submitted accounts was up roughly £5.5m over the previous year.

It demonstrates the bug filled outdated software and why new programmers need to be hired to fix such problems. It’s nothing to do with the members being disrespected. THS has acknowledged and apologized for the T&C issue.

Good post @Maggie8K . I have worked for a PE before and fully agree they tend to work on 3-5 year timelines. They have to keep getting results for their investors otherwise they’ll lose them! It’s a food chain really with Mayfair looking to sell/ to a bigger player or float asap.

And it’s not tested? It indicates they aren’t thinking about members experience.

It’s been suggested by other members who are more knowledgeable than me that the software is so outdated that any upgrades or modifications will result in glitches such as the T&C issue.

It’s about the company’s failure to keep software updated not blatant disrespect of the customers.

Very patronising language. We’re not idiots, we are people who have enabled them to have a business. Maybe they should have remembered that, before being so obnoxious!!

@popeye popeyeI yes, I was put off by the language

Given that THS chose to go another route, and is clearly sticking to their decision, suggesting what they “should have done” is a pointless exercise in futility.

@Jenny I can’t help thinking that with the thread title, “Booking Fee: We’ve heard your feedback”, has THS really?? There are nearly 1500 comments in two specific threads (one closed) plus other relating threads, (not to mention the comments on other public sites) yet there has been no evidence of being heard. Mathew Prior, CEO, usually sends an email at Christmas time yet not a peep out of him so far. All I see is THS trying to save itself with little regard for the members that make up the business and that really disappoints me.

The thread has been split in two in response to a comment from Marion about insurance related to sits. It is at Feedback about premium memberships

@Horseonaboat If you are referring to my comment above, the closed thread was the very first thread on the introduction of booking fees which received 1056 comments, not what Marion has just brought up.

In fact, 1056 were the comments actually left but, at some point, there were at least 1169, perhaps more.

@Newpetlover Thanks for that. I mustn’t have seen the final total!

The problem for me with the booking fee is that is seems a backwards way to increase revenue for the company. The fee is a charge for members to use their membership, after paying an annual membership fee. I think I’m more insulted by the PR rollout however: “Introducing booking fees” - that sounds like something good is coming if I keep reading the email that was sent. Then “thanks to member like you…the community is growing….to support this growth….a booking fee will apply.” Thanks? An additional booking fee can not ensure a seamless sit experience, as the email indicates.

The FAQ’s in the link provided by @Jenny are not working at the time if this post. Does the fee get refunded if the sit is cancelled?

Thanks for clarifying that. When I posted I only saw a comment from THS @Jenny and Marion’s post… there was nothing else. A glitch maybe?

Yes it does. Nice to see you, it’s been awhile

Thanks for that info.
I find that tuning into the forum just before and after a sit/hosting is a better use for me. Had to chime in on the booking fees email though….

@HelloOutThere was only thinking of you yesterday! Nice to see you again

I just think some comments were removed

Does anyone remember when we got DAILY emails of new sits? That disappeared. Does anyone remember when you could get more than 5 applicants for your sit? That disappeared. Does anyone remember when this site used to be about helping people and not greed? That disappeared.
