This is good information to know. Thank you for posting it! I have an adequate amount of sits through THS, and am reluctant to even apply for sits outside of the US due to the airfare, but next year we may have a little more time to sit, so it’s interesting to know what Nomador has to offer sitters!
Nomador was started in France and tends to have more such sits, FYI.
Beware date changes!!
I have already booked numerous sits for later this year before I have to start paying booking fees at the end of March. A HO and I were in conversation yesterday because he had to make a slight adjustment to the dates. The lingo in the 3 emails generated by this change (sit dates cancelled, new sit dates, confirm you are available and agree to the new sit dates) make me highly suspicious that this would have triggered a booking fee for me had the alteration occurred after my upcoming renewal date. Just a heads up.
Thanks for the warning.
I’m convinced that is how it works. The system seems to register a readjustment of dates as a new sit altogether, so it will charge the booking fee if it applies on the (new) confirmation date.
My plan is leave dates ‘as is’ going forward, screenshot the WG and refer to actual dates in the review.

Just saw an ad for House Sitters America: “No Booking Fee, Ever.”![]()
Is my profile still visible by HOs if I don’t renew my membership ?
No, it isn’t.
It takes time to fill all the informations on a new plateforme. The automatic link to import my reviews doesn’t work on GPS. I also can’t download screenshots. I tried many times and have used the online support without success.
I have no idea why this doesn’t work. My verification, copying my listing plus uploading my screenshots took 30 minutes and I was good to go.
That’s because, in my opinion, the “Trusted Times Monthly Newsletter”, although interesting, is mainly a “roundup” of fluff.
I’ve been a sitter since 2016. But I will be leaving once I’ve finished this years sits and I’ll join UK sitters for £29 a year with NO extra fees EVER.
I’m that annoyed to THS for treating loyal members this way.
I left when renewal came up just before Christmas. With the current travel situation, it was an additional win, I guess. ![]()
We miss you over here, @Garfield ! ![]()
Oooh, I miss you too, @MerryPuppins ! And y’all! ![]()

Is that for other sits not just in the UK? I’m having trouble getting sits lately and I think it’s because a lot of people left from here because of the fees.
You might be having trouble getting sits more due to 2 of your recent very bad reviews! Much as I don’t like the forum member you sat for in Greece, someone who cant organise their own Schengen routine and leaves a sit(s) early due to barking, twice, is unlikely to be selected again by most hosts.
Hi everyone!
It looks like the conversation is starting to drift a bit from the original topic. To keep things useful and easy to follow, let’s steer things back on track here. ![]()

@Jenny a long thread like this is going to ramble a bit…………
Hi @Cathie
Rambling a bit is absolutely fine
but I just want to make sure things don’t drift too far off topic or go against our guidelines, which it’s starting to do here.
We also want to avoid discussions around specific community members and their situations.
If we can keep the discussion focused on the booking fee, that would be fab, thank you!
