Booking Fee: We’ve heard your feedback

I don’t understand why THS is still going ahead with booking fees for sits of any duration. Obviously both sitters and HOs feel aggrieved at having to pay out each sit (and yes if you go premium blah blah….) but why EVERY sit? Anyone who wants a sitter for a day/weekend or long weekend is still going to have to pay and that’s a lot of people. Sitters will choose not to do short sits as it’s not economical and HOs will feel that THS isn’t worth it. Why doesn’t THS just do no booking fee for sits under 4 days?

Can anyone tell me how to download / export my reviews please? I’ve been a member for nearly ten years and don’t want to lose them. I tried to do a new post but can’t remember how it works!! Thanks.

Apart from other more obvious reasons, I don’t think the number of listings has declined, in fact, I think it may be higher now as I keep seeing 10000 and before Christmas listings, it used to be less than that.

OTOH, the number of sitters may have declined as there are increasing signs of unfulfilled listings and lower applications than usual.

Maybe people would try to officially split the sit into 4 days sits one after the other to avoid paying for them?

That could be easily avoided by the system and I don’t think many people would want to do split sits, anyway.

There are many problems associated with booking fees, which have been discussed in this thread but I think paying a fee for a short sit is damaging both members and THS.

People would do quite a lot to save money

The booking fees will change the structure of THS’s customer base, the profile of the members, and its segmentation.

A transformation of the economic and social model ?

Very upset by the addition of booking fees. This feels like an extra money grab, or attempt to force people to upgrade their membership.

I wonder how many sitters have opted not to renew their THS subscriptionbecause of the fees. Maybe this is why so many HOs are complaining that no one is interested in their announcements?

I’m sure they must realize that without a large base of sitters, HOs may not be comfortable to use THS. A big risk to rely on potential maybes.

Should be that sits over two weeks involve a fee. Anything less, no.

I’m leaving when my subscription expires, solely because of the introduction of sit fees.

@MeggieJ join the club of hundreds of disgruntled THS members on this thread of over 500 comments plus there was an earlier even longer thread.

Was hoping to see some sort of positive response in this post, but I don’t see anything like that. THS’ response is useless. The service is getting worse, not better - most recently the sit map page that no longer works.

Yeah! Looks like I was late to the party. I didn’t get the email until this month because I’m supposed renew next month. I have many repeat home owners who don’t want to pay this every time they pick me. Also thinking of not renewing. It is not okay how they slipped that fee in without consent. Trust is in their name. They should attempt to live up to it.

@MeggieJ take the repeats off the books then, that’s the way a lot of people are going.

Exactly this.

As others have said, speak to the pet owners off site, WhatsApp etc, and arrange the sit privately. THS will get no extra cash this way, but you wont get any reviews. However, Any sits you book BEFORE your renewal date next month will not incur the charges. Also, you can vent on TRUST PILOT, let the world know how shoddy their behaviour has been towards us members, we who make this business a huge success.

You owe them Nothing.

I’m leaving too. Cancelled auto renew. THS would have to cancel booking fees or drastically reduce cost of premium to get me to stay

I do sits without confirming them officially now, as often as possible. If the owners agree, great. Otherwise I’ve been paying the fee but only for sits I really really wanted. I’m a lot more picky now.

We had a good time at THS. After 10 years, we are leaving the company next month due to the introduction of a booking fee and the limit of 5 applications. There are better solutions now.
