Car insurance - using car for "work"

I had just popped into town for a manicure!

A friend had her legally parked car side swiped. Guy said ā€œit’s your fault, you shouldn’t have parked thereā€ she said ā€œ you drove into a PARKED car!ā€ Some people will always try to shift the blame.

nowt as strange as folks!

Main thing is that you’re ok

Yes of course, but we go through our insurer who will contact the at fault person’s insurer who then pays back our insurer.

UPDATE

my insurance claim is settled, I have my car back, fixed, and my 13 year No Claims Discount is intact.

the idiot driver who pulled out from parked and hit my car has admitted fault. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

With my new parts, a bumper, a side wing, a wheel, a tyre, a fog light, and labour including repairs to the suspension, a paint job, plus my courtesy car hire, (20 days) the bill to his insurance is over £6000. Ouch.

Hopefully he will be a more considerate driver in the future.

Oh, and I can claim back my £250 excess from his insurance.

The car had MOT on Wednesday and passed.

Tomorrow I start a 7 day driving holiday in the Scottish Outer Hebrides islands with my brother and 2 friends. I had worried we would have to go in my brother’s car.

Really pleased to hear this.

Great news. Enjoy your trip!
