Hi @CoolCatAunt could you please forward the email to me via DM thank you.
I just clean up after myself and leave the place as I found it. THS say to clean the pet bedding but no! I do not think this is a good idea. If the pet is sick on the or urinates yes of course I will clean the stain with a pet wipe/baby wipe so there is no stain on their bed by as to putting in the washing machine no! It could clog up the washing machine, do damage to the machine or the bed itself. You just have to try and use good judgement.
Interesting. I’ve never received an email as a sitter reminding me to clean the house before the sit ends.
My issue here is that they are not “my” owners. I get what they are trying to convey, but it would be easy to write “the owners” instead and remove any suggestion of ownership from the sitter/HO dynamic.
I have in the past but not recently. Seems a bit hit and miss. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and have received no less than 5 star reviews. Personally I found the guide rather patronising and way over the top.
I agree. I hate cleaning and find it such a chore just before leaving each housesit, but I do a good job and it is usually commented upon in my 5 star reviews. At my current sit a cleaner is coming the day before I leave, which has occasionally happened, which I consider a luxury!
I seem to spend more time cleaning other homes rather than my own . It isn’t too bad if the HO are due home later in the day as we can get the laundry done, dog(s) fed and walked, last minute clean and ensure everything is in order for their return. It is the early morning arrivals which can prove stressful!
I don’t remember who asked further up the thread, but yes, HOs also receive the email for cleaning before the sitters arrive and in the first week of March, before we left for South Africa, we received it and the term “Spring Cleaning” was used!
To solve the early morning problem we have invested in cheap bedding from IKEA so we can use it the last night. We also bought very lightweight towels. This means the laundry is done on the last full day and we aren’t running around like demented hens at 4am.
It’s nice for the home owners to come back to a newly laundered bed. And yes, they do come with us on international sits. It’s amazing what fits in a 23kg bag!
sorry if this made me laugh.
Then someone must have told THS that you are the best and no need for you to be told to clean up, ha!
@Angela_L My question above from 18 days ago has no answer.
If home owners are returning early in the morning, I ask them what they’d like us to do with the bedding. Sometimes they ask us to put it into the washer to get it started, and other times they ask us to just strip the bed and leave it in the laundry area. But so far, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten up at 4am to wash the bedding.
Düsenzofe answered it just a few posts back.

@Kelownagurl @anon39388349 thank you for helping other members with updates.
To everyone else re: “Spring Clean” (the email terminology, not the act) our CRM team have been contacted and I have forwarded the email from @CoolCatAunt to Liam (CRM Exec) who is following up.
Just as an aside, Liam didn’t know what “Spring Clean” meant until I explained (he didn’t write the copy BTW)
I asked in the original question posted
I would never go into rooms I didn’t need to go in.
Same here, it means more cleaning….
Thank you, glad to hear it.
But have the pets been in those rooms…even is you haven’t used them, they may left behind hairs etc?
