Concerning behaviour from sitter

That’s exactly what I think. It’s like a f—- you to the host who in my case at least has made a real effort to make it all nice for them

I totally agree too.

I mean and to be honest, I’d prefer he was on some kind of alcoholic bender and just didn’t remember his food bingeing than that he just didn’t give a monkeys and hid the jars etc. But the fact is he did hide the jars so I have to assume it was all mostly deliberate

For me the significant factor is the deception. Personally as a sitter I replace anything of significance that I use. If this sitter had used a jar of peanut butter and not hid it, I don’t think that would be significant.
Hiding things is straight up dishonest. This is a dealbreaker for anyone with normal values. I have no problem with sitters that are proven to be dishonest being barred from this platform; to let them stay tars us all with the same brush.

Are you really sure it was not you? Maybe you had gone up there before your trip to get something?

Anyway, if it was a led-light, the cost would be less than even a can of beans. And much less than the cost of everything else. Was your pet happy?

I think you are overlooking the bigger issue here.
Why did this sitter go in to the loft for apparently no need and where else had they gone, with no need.
I’m assuming the HO knew they had been in the loft due to the light being left on, I don’t believe they are making a big issue of the energy.
How would you feel if a sitter or guest had rummaged around your house for no valid reason?

Totally. It’s not about the cost of the electricity or of a jar of peanut butter. It’s all about the lack of respect. Why would someone be so careless towards their host? And yes I always check the light is off when I go up there. It’s only a storage space.
