Deluge of invitations to sit!

That a homeowner doesn’t confirm is pure nuts. We do immediately after verbally offering the sitter the job, and request they confirm as soon as they get the THS offer. (Once we had a sitter dawdle and finally accept. Then she cancelled a few days before the sit.

If a sitter doesn’t confirm, then we’d have no insurance and no help from THA if the sitter cancelled. Plus, applicants would continue to apply who’d we have to turn down, which would discourage these sitters to applying next time!

Once we had a sitter take a long time to formally accept, and then she cancelled just days before the sit. Looking back, we kind of figured she wasn’t sure she wanted the sit, and that maybe she was waiting on a different opportunity.

I guess the same could be said for a homeowner who doesn’t officially offer the job. If we are not sure, we don’t offer. That seems they obvious course of events!

I would have agreed. Except these guys were genuinely keen (sat for them before) but really struggle with the app, so thought what they had done already was a confirmation. They were most apologetic and in the end they got there.

But you’re right, had I not already known them, then I might have doubted their commitment/interest.

Hi @Purdie just clarifying that I understand your question ; do you mean can a sitter confirm a sit / change dates of a sit on behalf of HO ?

The answer is no - only HO can confirm / change dates or cancel a sit .

Member services can help too if the HO is struggling with updating things on the THS platform but it’s the HO who has to contact them …
