Emergency situation

The two dogs I am housesitting attacked each other and I was bitten in the process. I can’t reach the homeowner. There is blood all over the place. The attacking dog’s face is swelling. I’m in shock. I’m leaving soon. It’s not worth putting myself in danger. The homeowners can return within 12 hours. I don’t know what else to do if I can’t reach the home owner.

Get out now.

Contact the 24/7 emergency line at THS. Please seek medical attention. Please update, after you are safe. :folded_hands:

What an awful situation on all fronts; I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Please be sure to get appropriate medical attention for yourself.

Did they not leave a local emergency contact?

Emergency contacts in the Welcome Guide?

Hello @Petstuff

I am very sorry to hear of this situation. I have sent you a DM so if you could please have a look for this.

Thank you.

Sam.

This is scary! I’ve been in a somewhat similar situation in the past. Did the owners mention that the dog can be aggressive or no

Do you have vet info and emergency contacts from the welcome guide? If you were bitten, you might need a tetanus shot and you need to know whether the dogs have had rabies shots. Take photos of your injuries and the dogs’ as well. You might need proof later, should you file a THS member dispute or pursue medical or legal follow-up.

I hope you are out of there by now and have sought medical attention, as others have said you may need a tetanus injection. Have you anywhere to stay tonight? I hope you do and you can recover from this shock.

It’s the sort of thing all sitters dread, sorry you got caught up in it. Make you THS know about it.

It doesn’t matter. NO sitter should ever be at risk of being bitten by a dog.

Hope you are ok!

Yes, get out and THS emergency .

Update: Membership Services has assisted this sitter in resolving the situation.

I hope they are OK.

Thank you!

I’m so sorry @Petstuff . Do take care of your own health and get help from member service - also a possible emergency contact as the host should have given you one.
